The new year often comes with a surge of excitement and the pressure to commit to resolutions. I’ve been there—scribbling down a list of ambitious goals like running a marathon, organizing every inch of my home, and mastering the perfect work-life balance. By February, reality sets in, and most of those resolutions are history.
I’m trying something different this year: focusing on intentions rather than resolutions. Why? Because intentions are about the JOURNEY, not just the destination. They guide how I want to feel and show up in my life, offering flexibility and grace along the way.
Here are a few intentions I’m embracing this year:
-
Cultivate Presence: I want to be fully engaged in the moment, whether I’m on a run, spending time with my kids, or enjoying that first sip of morning coffee.
-
Live Authentically: This year, I’m embracing authenticity in every aspect of my life—being true to myself in my relationships, business, and personal goals.
-
Prioritize Self-Care: Outside of being an entrepreneur, being a military spouse, mom, and bonus mom, life gets hectic. This year, I’m carving out time for myself—whether it’s a solo run or quiet time with a book.
-
Celebrate the Small Wins: Progress isn’t always about grand achievements. I’m learning to acknowledge and celebrate even the tiniest steps forward.
Shifting from resolutions to intentions has already lifted a weight off my shoulders. Instead of chasing perfection, I’m focusing on aligning my actions with what truly matters to me.
What about you? How do you approach the new year?
